Dear Parents and Staff of PERCES,
Let me begin by wishing you a safe, healthy, and blessed Memorial Day weekend. Please use this time to recharge as we head into our last instructional week of the year.
As we end school on 5/29 and begin the end of the year process, your principals will be sending instructions on how to retrieve your student materials over June 1-4. June 5 will serve as our region-wide clerical day. Final report cards will be posted on June 8.
Once we complete this school year, it’s off to the races to prepare for the return of students in August. PERCES is committed to three goals for the 2020-2021 school year; all with the idea of planning for a variety of instructional scenarios in the fall.
First, every class and grade in all of our schools K-8 will have a google classroom webpage to communicate with families and children. This dynamic platform will allow our teachers to move seamlessly from in-person instruction to an at home academic scenario and back with minimal interruptions.
Secondly, in order to access the teacher specific google classroom pages, our summer and beginning of the year professional development will focus on best practices for online learning. We need to equip our instructional staff with tools to make this region-wide effort fruitful and are committed to doing so in a substantive way. Families will also have training on how to access and utilize the GC pages.
Finally, each of our students in grades 2-8 will have Chromebook laptops. Again, in the event of a COVID related school closure we want our children to be able to immediately move to an online environment. A large part of that success will be access to common technology, even at home. Primary grades K-1 will use alternative, developmentally appropriate platforms.
In the coming weeks and months we will work with families and staff to implement these goals. On the horizon is a continued faith filled and academically excellent experience for our students.
It has been a pleasure working for you and your children during this first year as a regional system. Enjoy your summer.
